Industrial safety management at mining enterprises in Kazakhstan

One of the main vectors for the development of a mining enterprise should be the formation and consistent implementation of key tasks in the field of occupational health and safety. The research conducted by the authors is devoted to the experience of introducing the concept of “zero injuries” by mining enterprises, as well as organizational solutions to improve industrial safety. The article presents the main aspects of the “iceberg theory” developed by
H.W. Heinrich. The adapted Bradley curve, which is used at one of the leading enterprises of Kazakhstan “ArcelorMittal Temirtau”, the analysis of occupational diseases in the coal and steel departments of the enterprise, the developed step-by-step algorithm for guidance on reducing the level of injuries are presented. During the research, the effect of the introduction of technologies to prevent industrial injuries at the enterprise was studied. The authors present the results of the implementation of the concept of “zero injury”, which is reasonably the most productive approach to ensure comfortable and safe work of people in the mining industry, an analytical review of the pyramid of occupational injuries formed by the management of “ArcelorMittal Temirtau” has been made. On specific examples, the advantages of using technologies for industrial safety at work, contributing to the effective reduction of injuries, are revealed. The results of the implementation of the company’s programs aimed at preventing occupational diseases are presented.
