Modern approaches to the disposal of construction and demolition waste in underground and civil con-struction projects

Authors: Kovaleva A.M.

The increase in construction volumes and the implementation of large infrastructure projects have led to the problem of the need to dispose of construction and demolition waste. Underground construction increases the volume of construction and demolition waste at the stages of facility construction, reconstruction, and the elimination of the surface complex, which includes buildings, structures, and engineering infrastructure necessary for the operation of the underground facility. The bulk of the waste is sent to landfills instead of being processed into secondary raw materials. Today, interest in construction and demolition waste processing technologies and the assessment of their economic efficiency has grown. The development of a circular economy, environmental requirements, and the need to conserve natural resources require more environmentally friendly approaches. The article examines current research in the field of construction waste recycling, government regulation, and the economic necessity of addressing the issue of recycling and also provides an overview of domestic and foreign experience. It has been established that increasing the level of construction waste recycling is possible only through a comprehensive combination of new technologies, economic incentives, and government regulation. Based on the analysis, directions for the development of the industry, and the improvement of methods for evaluating recycling projects are proposed.

Keywords: construction and demolition waste, secondary construction resources, recycling, circular economy, economic efficiency, resource conservation.
