Improvement of technology for the development of complex-structured carbonate deposits with the use of modernized surface mine

Authors: Cheban A. Yu.

Complex-structural carbonate deposits are characterized by high variability in the qualitative characteristics of the layers of useful stratum, and therefore, in order to obtain the greatest economic effect in the development of such reserves, it is necessary to ensure highquality selective extraction of raw materials. Carbonate massifs are composed mainly of rocks of low strength, the selective layer-by-layer mass excavation of which can be effectively carried out using surface miners, however, the presence of separate layers of relatively strong rocks makes mechanical loosening difficult, reduces the productivity of combines and can lead to their breakdowns. For the development of gently sloping complex-structured seams, a technical and technological solution is proposed using a modernized surface miner, which provides preliminary softening of a layer of strong rocks by means of a unit for cutting discontinuous slots with the supply of a solution of surfactants into them, followed by mechanical loosening of the softened layer. Mechanical loosening of layers composed of rocks of low strength is carried out without their preliminary softening. A dependence is proposed for determining the width of intermittent slots to accommodate the required volume of solution in them. The miner is also equipped with a storage hopper, which provides the possibility of non-stop loosening of the array when replacing dump trucks under loading. The implementation of the proposed solution will increase the productivity of the excavation and reduce the cost of mining operations.

Keywords: mechanical excavation, hard rock layer, preliminary softening, storage hopper, productivity.
