Required optimization of process flow designs in open pit mining in the Chernogorsky coal field

Mining and loading machinery feature high unit capacity. Relatively small dimension and high mobility allow high concentration of mining operations. The rate of performance of truck-and-shovel stripping and excavation increases in such conditions. Advance of face cutting with direct dumping greatly lags behind. Efficiency of draglines lowers. It is required to design efficient process flows to improve mine potency in flat-pitching seam mining with combination of truck-and-shovel and direct dumping systems. Retardation of dragline operation front can be compensated by means of optimizing the height of the dragline benches. In this case, the work content of stripping with trucks and shovels will increase. Consequently, the improvement in open pit mining efficiency is achievable through intensification of mining with direct dumping with simultaneous enhancement of performance of dump trucks. Effectiveness of dump trucks in a greater degree depends on the distance of haulage. When volume of stripping with trucks and shovels grows, the cost of increased overburden haulage can be compensated by reduction in haul distance. To this end, it is possible to replace direct dumping in mined-out area by stacking using bulldozers. For another thing, performance of rehandling equipment is essentially governed by a rehandling factor value which can be decreased by optimizing excavator working level on a muck pile.
