The use of percarbonate compounds in the systems of cyanide reagents in difficult gold leaching from placers

The article describes the theoretical and experimental research data on activation leaching of gold using reagents containing reaction peroxide carbonate compounds obtained from electro-photo-chemical treatment of original reagents. The experimental results of interaction between carbonate / percarbonate compounds and sodium cyanide in different order of mixing of activated and nonactivated solutions with aqueous cyanide solutions positively prove generation of metastable percarbonate–cyanide compounds. The activated solutions containing such metastable compounds ensure higher recovery of gold from rebellious ore as compared with leaching using standard aqueous cyanide solutions of the same initial concentration. Chloride–hypochlorite solutions mixed with the percarbonate solutions produced by electro-photochemical treatment of the sodium hydrocarbonate solution essentially increase gold recovery as against the standard aqueous cyanide solutions, too, and sometimes as compared with the activated percarbonate–cyanide solutions. The lab-scale test gold recovery from Alia sands and from Kia sand pre-concentrate using the percarbonate–cyanide systems produced encapsulated and chemically bound gold at a level of 90% and higher.
