Analysis of anthropogenic factors of influence on the hydrosphere and ways to reduce them in mining regions

The article discusses the issue of protecting water resources in mining regions with a highly developed industry, using the example of the Starooskolsko-Gubkinsky industrial area, a significant part of which is characterized by a low level of protection of groundwater from technogenic pollution. The contaminated area covers an area of about 250 km2 and goes beyond the sanitary protection zones of mining and metallurgical enterprises. Under the influence of the drainage of deposits, as well as the work of large water intakes in cities, depletion of groundwater occurs on the horizons that provide household and drinking water supply in the region. Due to ineffective wastewater treatment, enterprises significantly pollute surface waters. The surface waters of the region are dominated by such components as ions of phosphates, copper, total iron, oil products, manganese, sulfates, etc. The surface waters of those rivers, the water resources of which are used by all mining enterprises of the region, are especially polluted. According to the monitoring of the pollution of rivers, identified as the most important monitoring objects associated with the influence of mining enterprises, the authors presented an analysis of the data obtained. The state and departmental network of controlled observation wells does not fully reflect the processes of water withdrawal and replenishment of groundwater in the specified territory and needs to be expanded. The existing methodology and practice of setting maximum standards for wastewater discharge into water bodies requires serious adjustment. The article analyzes the systems of water consumption and wastewater disposal at enterprises that have a negative impact on water resources, and the specificity of the hydrogeological network of the region. On the basis of these data, scientific and technical recommendations are proposed aimed at reducing the impact of a technogenic nature on water resources.
